Some of the projects under the cluster initiative include Wayside Amenities (WSA), Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), Drones and LiDARs for highway projects, and several others.


The introduction of ETC has been an important milestone for the nation. The FASTag-powered system has made the process transparent and easy. The NHAI CGM is currently working on ensuring at least one dedicated ETC lane at every Toll plaza.


Some of the other prospects of highway operations that the NHAI CGM is working to realise include geospatial technologies for monitoring of the ongoing projects and GPS tolling. A few other projects that have passed the pilot phase and are slowly entering the sector are: Drones for the real-time monitoring of ongoing projects, Road Assets Management System (RAMS), and Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) or ATMS.
